Penang’s Chee Cheong Fun is a very simple dish. Unlike it’s more glamorous cousin in Cantonese cuisine, here the dish is made up of rolled flat rice noodles and flavoured Only with the various sauces. To really appreciate this dish like a Penangite, do Not leave out the pungent & fishy flavour of the well-known Penang prawn paste! It would seem the only variant in eating this dish in Penang is whether you’d like your rice-rolls opened or not – we prefer it cut rolled up!
1) Sin Guat Keong Kopitiam at 86 Lbh Kimberley & ( 8am to 3pm most days). This is our favourite chee cheong fun in Penang. The many sauces served here are mainly homemade and the rice noodles are always fresh.
2) Further down the road from Sin Guat Keong is another chee cheong fun stall cart at the junction of Lbh Kimberley & Jln Kuala Kangsar ( 7.30am to 11am). This stall is popular among people going to Chowrasta Market nearby. One can order a plate of the dish and eat it in the kopitiam next to this stall.
